“A need of expressing myself and a small identity crisis with a hint of wanting my voice to reach others. One of the best decisions I’ve made to be honest.” – Basant She, FAQs
Being both socially anxious and an extrovert can be a very odd experience. Though you want to interact with others, it’s pretty unpleasant and difficult. I have experienced this myself since my middle school years. It’s almost like there’s always something I want to express or say but due to fear and constant worry, I never can.
Though I’ve gotten better at controlling all of this since then through my stand up comedy acts and public speaking in high school, it’s still constantly by my side on a daily basis. This blog is just going to be my way of dealing with my anxiety through rambling, which is something I do best.
Oh, I’m sorry I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Basant, I’m an nineteen year old girl from Egypt, raised in Saudi Arabia, and currently living in lovely Germany for university. It’s really hard to identify one’s self with all of that going on to be honest. This is actually another one of my reasons for writing this, a feeble attempt at trying to figure myself out. I’m at a certain point where although I know a lot about me as a person, I still manage to surprise myself.
Anyways, back to the introduction. I really enjoy writing, reading novels, being artistic, and making the people around me happy through laughter and random acts of kindness. Back in high school, I was really involved with a lot of activities like Model United Nations, Student Council, and Journalism. They crafted me into the individual I am today and taught me to take risks in everything I do, this is why I decided on going to Germany for my university studies. I wanted a new challenge, a new adventure.
This blog is going to include anything I want to talk about and any anecdotes I remember. I hope it’s an enriching process for the both of us, cheers!
This is a nice About page. Well done on the big move to University. I hope you have a wonderful time. From Debra @ https://cultivatingtime.wordpress.com

Awww, thank you so much! Oddly enough, I use my Android s4 and snapchat to take pictures. I wise I had a DSLR camera I would use it all the time instead of my phone! :))

I can see the intrinsic challenge of being an extravert when you are also held back by social anxiety. I’ve never thought about that before. Congratulations for seeing blogging as a way out of this double bind. With social media you can draw people to you, have them support and talk with you, while sitting at home writing and reading. It’s a great idea. Enjoy yourself!

Wow!
Egypt, Saudi and now Germany! I dont know, but i feel some people are getting jealous around here!
Well, your name in Hindi (I am from India and speak Hindi) , which I apparently was shocked to see being used in a place so far off. It means the Spring season.
And what is the meaning in *i don’t even know the language spoken is egypt!* your language..
The name of the language would be cool too!

Hahahaha, I guess I do get around. And yes, I have actually been told the same thing before on my blog in regard to my name 😀 I did know before as well because I had friends from India back in school, I think it’s pretty cool how I have a festival there with my name 🙂
It can be a pretty common name in the Arab world you see because it’s the name of a flower. In Coptic, one of the languages spoken in Egypt, it means base. Like the base of a building for example, in that context. Thank you for being curious! It’s something I’ve always liked to share her with my readers.

Your feelings and emotions are pretty normal for your age. Your background is very interesting. Well done for writing about your emotions. Your writing is very interesting, ever thought of writing a book?
I had similar emotions at your age – I am the female part of Danny Roberts.

… or perhaps Danny Roberts is the male part of you. It is all a matter of perspective and as a father of three delightful young women I hate to think that they are subjugated to any other human being but rather equal partners and themselves no matter with whom they choose to associate.

Strange comment, especially coming from a man. I am a mother to two daughters and a very independent lady. I am also a therapist. The young lady needed support and was grateful for it.
I always perceive women as the better part of humanity……..maybe you should stick to wine commentary, and leave female psychology alone.
